I can’t believe how naive I was years ago when my husband and I entered the world of sales and marketing. We bought every course from SO many different people trying to piece the puzzle together.

I still speak to plenty of clients who just freakin’ want the big picture for building a successful business. They are so frustrated with all of the information that they find, just like Claire.
Claire bought course after course hoping to get the blueprint for her online business. She started off her entrepreneurial endeavor by taking out a loan from her retirement funds to receive her online business in a box.
She was excited and thought, if she could only drive traffic to her site, the system would do the rest, right?
She was told that it would take a few thousand dollars to send traffic to her brand new replicated marketing system, and once that happens, sit back and watch the dollars roll in.
Her webpages were replicated because she was using the company’s marketing system. Claire thought that it made her look like everyone else, but her team leader told her that it was okay to send traffic to the replicated pages in her back office, because they simply work. Apprehensively, she chose the best one that appealed to her to use as her landing page.
Claire spent $1500 in a few weeks with Google Adwords, and she immediately started receiving traffic. Hot damn, she was cooking with oil now… wasn’t she?
$5000 dollars and 3 months later, Claire’s conversion rate is piss poor. Her profits are negative -$3050. She only made 2 sales by following the marketing system’s step by step directions. Her team leader told her to put more money into Google Adwords campaigns.. Because, it’s all about the numbers. More numbers equal more profits…right??
3 Google slaps and 1 account banned is where pumping more money in the system got Claire. This is ridiculous! Claire called her team leader several times during the Google slaps and found out that her team leader was experiencing the same thing. No one had an answer. Suddenly it seems that the trusty ol’ Google source was cut off. People were scrambling like a team of disturbed ants desperately looking for another traffic source to get leads. They must keep the machine going. They promised too many people that all they needed was their marketing system and a Google Adwords budget. Now, since the Google slap, that promise is now null.
“Damn it to hell!”
Claire said out loud when found out that her new Facebook campaign was slapped. Claire’s savings was dwindling fast, and it looks as if Claire will have to pick up a second job to recoup her loses.
Claire will have to make a decision, and fast. She started another Google search on line for a leader in another company that she heard about and landed on his personal blog. He just happen to have a live webinar tonight, and it was open question night.
Yes! Claire registered for the live event and set up her calendar reminders. That very night on the live webinar, Claire found out that she needed a funded proposal before the replicated marketing system funded proposal. Why oh why didn’t her team leader tell her that.
Furiously, Claire created a new landing page that feature her; created a free report that was packed full of valuable information that she researched, and developed an online $7.99 product that she was paid directly on. After coaching with this leader from another company, Claire started doing live webinars that funneled her leads from her paid advertising on Yahoo and Bing into her marketing system. She had her leads bypass the marketing systems funnel and took them directly to the buy button.
Claire’s conversion rate went through the roof. She couldn’t believe how simple it was to put herself in the front of her replicated marketing system. Grateful to her new coach, Claire launched another product where she featured her new coach which capitulated her online sales for her own products, as well as her coach’s practice.
Although it took getting out of her way, Claire was excited that she got out of her comfort zone, enlisted the help of outsiders, and went the opposite direction of everyone else. The replicated marketing system taught her how to market their product, but not how to make herself the go to person. What a crock! Why didn’t they want her to know that?!
So the ‘basics’ of the direct answer that Claire found out to making a replicated system successful was the following:
-Find out the needs of your target market through online market research
-Feature YOU first as the go to person with a solution to their problem
-Create a free report or bonus course for your readers
-Create a low cost product that is valuable that you could sell it for over $100, but you sell it for under $10 through Paypal
-Create a free value packed webinar, and give them a way to work with you directly (redirect them to your marketing system buy button)
-Hire an assistant that will help you get your new team members started (www.elance/www.odesk)
-Continue to create and launch products that your audience wants and needs so that you build up an income outside your marketing system
(There of course are technical details to each of the bullet points above, but all in all…this is the high level view of what you must do – a map in a sense.)
There, see how easy that was. That is all that people ask for. Hell, that’s all I ask for. Just give the flipping answer and stop making me pay for every incomplete puzzle piece…damn!
